Inhalt

The document is a contract, drawn up in the form of a cheirographon between four camel-drivers, two of them coming from the village of Soknopaiou Nesos, and the other two from two nearby places, and the prosperous people (εὐσχήμονες) of an unknown village or city. The camel-drivers acknowledge that they have received camels, three bulls apparently requisitioned by the state, from the prosperous people in addition to an amount of 400 drachmas intended to cover the expenses for the fodder of the camels. They undertake to transport the camels to another nome and, should one of the camels die on the road, to bring
the mark that was branded somewhere on the animal.
